Noooz was born in 1999 from my laptop when I was still living at my mum’s. My name is Daniel Boutros and I’ve been writing about games as a freelancer since I was still in school in 1996. Since then, I co-produced a game (Rapid Racer at SCEE), designed a few that never made it (each with a dying Brit dev carrying more balls than business sense) and now work as a consultant to various publishers and developers while doing the journo bit on the side amongst other things.
It’s fun and it means I can stay detached and free in my opinion without being fired by anyone. I’m all for people being free with their words and this site exists solely so some free and fearless opinion can exist on the web. Other sites hold their tongues in fear of hurting PR relationships and ad revenues. This is simply my hobby, so I don’t care.

The web tech side (and some occasional writing) is handled by Stewart Gilray aka Gilrod. He used to run a dev studio called Binary9 who specialised in handheld stuff and were doing PS2 stuff until a publisher paid them 6 months late and they had to shut down, a familiar story. Before that he was producing and programming games – some of which were pretty big hits. He now runs a web company called Just Add Water and looks after this site amongst many others.
