If you're right about this, then it's the news I've been waiting for. I've really been leaning toward getting a 360 recently and Assassin's Creed is one of the (now few) Sony exclusives that held me back. All Capcom need to do is go multiformat with DMC4 and I'm absolutely sold.

For me, the only system sellers PS3 has are MGS4 and from what I've heard, that Naughty Dog game too. Singstar was actually my favourite PS3 game. How weird is that?

From what I saw of the E3 conference, nothing really stood out. Sure, Heavenly Sword looks pretty cool, but I'd rather play Ninety-Nine-Nights tbh. As far as killer apps are concerned, Halo 3 undoubtedly owns MGS4 in my book. I'm not convinced that their online service will be as free as they claim, either.

I dunno though, maybe it's too early to be criticising Sony for this stuff.

Incidentally, now that Activision have picked up Red Octane, hopefully they'll be in a better position to go multiformat with the inevitable next-gen Guitar Hero sequels as well.

Despite my being quick to criticise, the dust has settled and I'd say it's premature. They fucked up by lying the previous E3 with those bullshit vids and knowing they couldn't get away with it this year, they looked like tools.

Thing is, despite the top brass looking making daft decisions - show Gran Turismo HD for half an hour! - the boys in production know their onions, so I'll reserve judgement overall, but say that unless they drop the machine price, they're going to have a VERY rough ride.

Anyway, I'll be posting full E3 impressions up in the next day or two.

Assassin's Creed was one of the few PS3 games I'm interested in. Sadly, with the 600 dollar pricetag (I don't want to buy the cheaper "gimp" system), I can't afford the PS3 right now. An Xbox 360 version would be great, even if it would be a longer wait.

Halo 3 owns MGS4? you sir are not right in the head, Halo sucks. part 1 was ok, part 2 was boring and part 3 will be even worse. They are pathetic attempts to create a FPS on a console it's just an inferior platform sorry.

MGS 1, 2 and 3 were instant classics with great storyline and intrige. Part 4 will be probably be the best in the series, I mean the trailer alone blew anything else on the E3 away.

I seem to recall a fact that MGS does poorly in Japan, and that it is a game that is for the Western & European market. Because its the only markets that is driving the game. So then why do we still need to listen to Japanese and read subtitles. I mean thats just irritating. I mean at least make a english vesrion of the trailer and I agree about MGS2, the ending sucked @$$.
Not to mention that Halo is a FPS and MGS is more of a sneak game like SplinterCell.

Sorry, but Half Life 2 is light years beyond Halo. Halo is almost as Overhyped as Final Fantasy. I'm not saying that final fantasy or halo are bad games, just not as good as the hype they both recieve.

As for MGS not enjoying good sales in japan, check the numbers before you post something, there is no evidence that says it doesn't do well in japan. ^_^

Bottom line, I don't know for sure who will win the console war, but I can garantee you, even with the HIGH price of the PS3, it allready has most of japan and Europe, certifying it's place at at least #2, probably still #1. Whats really going to be interesting is where the wii ends up, it's a real wildcard.

you have to be crazy to think that MGS sold more ps2 than Halo sold xbox. I had a ps2 and I bought an xbox just to play halo. I bought a PS2 for alot of games like socom, RE4 and god of war, I never thought MGS was a system seller like you make it out to be. I thought both PS2 and Xbox were great systems and they both had different things to offer but i think 360 has alot more going for it this time around and it can easily end up being number 1. and for the fool that thinks that HL2 is better than Halo 1 is crazy. I played both and halo 1 was just a different experience and changed alot of play mechanics on the FPS. The machine gun on halo 1 is the best I have ever felt on single player.

Both systems are going to be great, but what I saw at E3 didn't really make me want to shell out 600 dollars for a PS3. The games were good but not that good. What really made Sony look bad was their Press Conference when the ripped off Nintendo and some of MS idea's to. Now I am not a MS fanboy, I like all consoles and I think that PS3 has great potential and Xbox 360 also. This is good news for all of us really... the more this happens, the less reasons there are going to be for us to buy PS3s, the more people who buy 360s, therefore the live community will increase, we all save $$$, sony will realise people will not just buy their system just because it's a playstation brand, which will force them to make an awesome PS4 in order to rival the 3rd xbox realisticly. You are VERY trusting of these promises. Remember that Microsoft has Microsoft money and has had an online presence for a long time. A service at the level of competence of Xbox Live is not something you create overnight, and much as Sony can hire ex-MS Network ninjas like Mike Kavilerou and otherwise, it's not enough.

Instead of setting yourself up for potential disappointment (or naked dancing in the street, should they use their across the board media library wisely), I would suggest you stop, breathe and wait.

Because eventually, we'll all see what they actually pull off from the promises they've made. As believe it or not, big companies don't always keep their promises.

Microsoft have sold over 3.5 Million of 360 units worldwide now. Sony will sell Playstation 3 just as they did with the Playstation 2. (someone remember the biiiig numbers of one weekend selling??) ok guys lets take a minute to think about this. Ive grown up with games as Im sure most of you have as well. When I was a kid it was nothing but NES and SNES and 64, and as time went on and I saw the first playstation I was still not convienced about it. Later due mostly to MGS and FF 7 I bought one. When Microsoft came out with Xbox agian I wasnt jumping to buy it, but Halo and Halo 2 sold me on it so I bought one. Just a smal interjection into my larger point they MGS and Halo are both great games with heavy differences, so stop bieng bitches and arguing about it. Ok moving on now that Xbox 360 is out Im gonna say to the public what Ive said to my friends Microsoft dropped the ball. They launched too early with an inferior machiene that does not compare to the PS3. I know that statement alone has more than likely signed my death warrant with some but lets face it there are only about 2 or 3 mind blowing games out there for Xbox 360. Even at the launch the majority of the titles were ea sports games. My roomate and I went to buy a 360 and the shelf was filled with them come on now. If it wasnt for the price of Ps3 no one would be complaining but because its expensive we hear all this complaining. SUCK IT UP I say us middle to upperclass 20 something gamers can afford an extra hundread dollars for a system. There is no reason to talk about it so much. Wow...first off I love my 360. Games like NBA 2k6 with the leagues online and NBA 2k7's trailer looks great, Fight Night which I'm playing NOW. Call of Duty 2(with new downloaded maps). Project Gotham 3 (just had a tournament..and the winner goes to Italy to visit the lambo shop!), Obilvion (downloads just keep coming), Battlefield2, Ghost Recon, and I could go on...like Rockstar's Table Tennis(read the reviews befroe U judge..it's seriously addictive), Dead or Alive(best fighting game 2 me), but then there's Xbox Live which is an award winning service that keeps getting better with updates. I mean just recently they added a message service to xbox.com that allows me to check messages and friend request while my 360 is off, and I'm at work. You could argue that the 360 doesn't have a lot of games that U like but there up coming lineup should make any true gamer impressed: Gears of War, Fable2, Mass Effect, Huxley, NBA 2k7, Doa Xtreme, Assassins Creed(which was running on the 360 at E3...believe it or not IGN reported this and took it down the next day), NCAA Football 07, Madden 07, NBA Live 07, BioShock, Splinter Cell, Medal of Honor, Chromehounds, Saint's Row to name a few. Don't forget Halo3. Then I also remember my expereince with the first xbox and games like Forza which was hands down better then Gran Turismo4, and games like Ninja Gaiden best action game in years. The closest game to Ninja Gaiden on PS2 was God of War in which I can't wait for GoW2. But if I had to chosse one or the other Ninja Gaiden wins no doubt.And as a happy 360 owner I'm telling you...your really missing out on some great games in the mist of some terrible launch titles. Gun, Perfect Dark (great for a week or two), Madden( the worst I've ever played from a gameplay perspective and with the features gone this game went back the store the same week I got it), Ridge racer. The PS3 I hope lives up to what it is suppose to be, but I wasn't at E3 to play the games. Heavenly Swords (looks great but I hope it's not the next dynasty warriors with jump in the air gimmicks....how many times are we going to see the same moves thru out the game? U know, War hawk (I'm interested but that trailer had me thinking of something else.. the game looks great with the controller moments I just hope I like it, Gran Turismo (looks good but what's new? are there going to be online finally? can we custumize our rides this time? is damage going to be involved? stop promising and deliver, Final Fantasy (looks incredible), Killzone (I'm still waiting..I wonder why there biggest and best trailer of the previous E3 was not around? Hummm. Fact is Sony lies to the public and the fanboys don't care. Me I look for quality and assurance and Sony is falling off. Can u imagine some of the problems some people are going to have with there $500-$600 systems? Microsoft had problems and addressed them quickly. How will Sony handle that. Will the Blueray disc survive the market. They still have alot of question marks to me. But it's games like Socom, and God of War that will make me spend the money, but we all know it's going to be a while before the heavy hitters for Sony pop-off. So while Sony fanboys wait another year for great games. Microsoft will be delivering great games. The developers we be familiar with the hardware. And Xbox Live is going to be of fire. Anyone for a multiplayer game of Gears of War. Chainsaw heaven...it doesn't get too much better than that.

xbox 360 is the going to be the best system and now i am beginning to think that nintedo is better than the ps3 so ps3 sucks ass. playstaion is desperate at the moment.

If they do put it on 360, i think it will only be a mere port with less stuff included. Either way, ill be enjoying it on my PS3, so i dont have any worries. ill be enjoying AC, Motorstorm, Resistance:FoM, DMC4, The New R&C, UT 2007, Ridge Racer 7, Fatal Inertia, Formula 1, GT 5, Killzone, Warhawk, and countless others.

You guys fight a lot - heres me 2 cents- none of Sony's games are done- thats a fact and - 2 many a Sony fanboy's hope- so is the PS3 release date... they have 2 or 3 months to finish theses games because stamping the blu-ray discs is still new and takes longer than DVD stamps- they need time to put the games out a few weeks before or the launch date or you'll have a shiny new system and past gen games- thats STUPID!!! This argument if funny! I think there is a bunch f kids on here fighting. I have bought every system that has been released in the pass, within 6 months of there release (to include the Dreamcast). In my opinion, the 360 is looking better because of the better line up. There is only a few PS3 games that I am interested in. MGS4 looks good because of the story, Assassins Creed turned out to be coming to the 360 at a later date and Final Fantasy 7 remake turned out to be fake. The 360 has a bunch of them coming out, Gears of War, Halo 3, Assassins Creed, Fable 2 and Bioshock, just to name a few. Lets also not forget that there are a few good games already out for the 360, Elder Scrolls 4, Far Cry (even though it is pretty much a remake), Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter and Hitman: Blood Money. I am sure the PS3 will get a better lineup once the system is out for a while but as far as the war goes...PS3 has got a few years before they catch, let alone, pass the 360. The Wii...only games I like are Zelda and Metroid but have to give them props for the innovation...not enough for me to buy it though. By the way, I love my 360 but the best games so far have been on the PC.

Finally, the last game I want now on Xbox 360! Ubi, you rock!

4: If you don't believe me on 3, then tell me this. Sony had NO working PS3 at E3, so how could you play Assassin's Creed without a working PS3? Use a differenty System, an Xbox 360 (There was a black curtain at the conferance for Assassin's creed, behind that curtain was a 360......)

I used to be a sony fanboy, but I got changed when the xbox came out, not because of Halo(although it is my all time favorite series in a video game), but because of first person shooters in general. Sony couldn't really offer me anything else except MGS and probably God of War, socom, and GTA (but I could always wait for it to come to the xbox). Then when xbox live came around a year later I couldn't resist and I was hooked. Games you bought for the xbox in like december, you would still be playing that same game months later, until a new one that caught your eye and you had enough money in your pocket, all because of xbox live. The PS2 couldn't offer me that kind of replay value, and being a teenager, I don't have that kind of cash to buy a new game and after about a week or two am done with it.

Then Halo 2 came out and was the absolute best, the story was great (the ending was a cliff hanger, but in Halo 3 you will get your fix, don't worry), the multiplayer was awesome and so on. I never played a game so much before. Who hasn't ever heard of Halo anyway, even my parents know what I am talkin about and kids at school and even my hockey teammates play it.

Now with the 360 out, it is absolutely mind blowing. And now I hear Assassins Creed coming to the 360, and a little while ago I heard GTA 4 is coming to the 360 the same day as the PS3, why would I even need a $600 dollar machine from Sony, I am not some Japanese game fanatic that loves crappy hit once wait your turn then hit again games anyway. Honestly, those are the most boring games in my opinion.

Another thing about the PS3, how come they copy everyone else. The controller at E3 really ticked me off and their knock off xbox live service got me pissed, who does that, where is the innovation.

I also remembered when the PS2 was about to come out, they were showing all rendered graphics and no gameplay. And when the console finally came, the graphics where no where near the caliber of the short trailers.

Assassins Creed coming to the 360 is great news. I find no reason to spend 600 dollars on a gaming console. And the 360 will win the console war, guarenteed, unless the PS3 can offer something worthy and actually show gameplay that looks just like the trailers, and can drop the price about 200 dollars, then maybe people will buy it. I mean, who the hell even heard of blu ray technology anyway if your from the real world.
